Let’s face it – our sport isn’t always the cheapest and the more we get into it the more toys we need.
All that hard work, however, does pay off and many of our club members are selected to represent New Zealand in international age group events from Sprint, Standard and Long course Triathlon to Duathlon. Let us not forget, also, those who achieve for what many of us is the pinnacle of our sport – the opportunity to compete in the Ironman World Champs in Kona, Hawaii.
The privilege of competing at an international level comes with a hefty price tag as the competitor is required to self-fund most of the costs incurred. This is where the club may be able to help. The Committee is keen to support as many of our club members as possible to reach their goals and there are several funding options available. These include – grants through local gaming trusts, film nights, sausage sizzles, selling of the Entertainment Book etc. Club members are expected to contribute to these enterprises but with the added bonus that you get the profits to put towards your dream of putting on the silver fern or cycling through the lava fields.
If you are stuck for funding options please speak to a member of the Committee – we may be able to assist.
