Club Night 11th July – Lee Cartmell

The next Club night on 11 July will be a talk from Lee Cartmell about the Silverman Course in North America.

This will be of special interest to all those who are competing in this year’s Long Course Worlds as it is over the same course: “the Silverman has been branded the toughest course in North America. Featuring rolling hills and a few memorable climbs. The course is unique and beautiful. With over 10 000 feet of climbing on the bike and a further  2000 feet on the run. Its not a course for drafting. Where else in the world would you get dancing girls at aid stations?”.

Lee, who descibes himself as a normal age grouper (35 – 40), raced the full distance Silverman triathlon in 2009 where he took out his age group and was 15th overall in 11 hrs 38 mins. Lee says “its not a fast course. But I am not a fast racer!”. Lee has also completed seven ironman races over the world including UK, NZ and Australia. He was also due to include IM China this year – but that is a different story. Lee has also done a couple of 70.3 races including world 70.3 championships 2010.
